Yeah, It’s Been a While

I started this blog several years ago with the intent on throwing my journey through photography out in the interwebs so friends, family and people who just might be interested and could follow along. But then life got in the way. Had all the right intentions, just not the time to stick with it.

Well, I’m going to try this again.

Not because I’m bored or just need to fill some time. No, my journey has taking another twist. I’m on the road now. I say “I” but I mean “we.” A lot of things have happened the last couple of years, top of the list is getting married to my best friend and partner in crime. Diane has filled in all the missing pieces of my life. She’s the sweetest thing in the world, is so much fun and, probably most importantly, she keeps me grounded. I need that.

Diane and I bought a 5th wheel trailer and have hit the road. Just her and me.

And Walter the Wonder Dog. And her cat, Miss Luna. I’ve been corrected, it’s Miss Leah. Never was a cat person.

We’ve been on the road almost a month now. A lot has happened in that month, so I am a bit behind in ‘reporting’ our progress. But that’s kind of the way it goes. Good intentions and all. So, this isn’t a daily diary. Not a blog that chronicles our trip. No, it’s going to be pretty much what I’ve done in the past. I’ll be putting things out there that kind of hit my mind as we go along. Not in any kind of order. Not a travel log, although it might seem that way from time to time.

After all, we are traveling. And I will be logging our travels. But I’ll be throwing some observations along the way. Kind of like a travel log.

With beer. Or whatever.

While I started my journey as a creative endeavor, it continues to be that, but there is so much more now. It’s kind of the nature of ‘the journey’ we take. Happy times and and sad bumps in the road. Most of mine, the last few years, has been pretty happy. Friends met along the way, some of whom are family now. And of family lost.

My last post was about my Dad. He was Superman and I miss him. But I recently suffer another loss. A brother, a creative dynamo and an amazing singer.

I will hit that on another post. That one will take some time.

But here I sit, outside my camper, with my best friend and my dog and a beer. Well, a few beers. And writing again. I plan on doing much more writing. Our travels, my thoughts and of course, photography. I hope you’ll join me. And not get too bored of my rants and raves.

Since we left the desert of western Colorado, we have travel though 9 states. In the eastern US, that takes like 8 hours. From the west, it like 3,000 miles.

Well, it seems like that when you’re pulling 40 feet of a 13,000 foot camper.

We are currently enjoying a nice evening in the Nashville area, although I have to admit, the humidity is playing hell with my hair. I have some thoughts and observations about Nashville, and how they drive out here, which I’m sure I will share at some point.

But for now, know that we are out and about, experiencing new things, a new life and some new photographs. After all, photography is what I do and what I write about. Sort of.

Stick with me. It’s a pretty fun ride.
